ATA Security was founded by Paul Flanagan and the company was launched on the 17th March 1984 at the St. Patrick’s day parade in Dublin and won the major parade award that year. The company followed on from Abel Alarms which had been founded by Paul during the 1960’s. Paul has been a major contributor to the Irish and European security industry for almost six decades, having been one of the founding members and past president of the Irish Security Industry Association (ISIA). During the 1970’s Paul played a key role in the introduction of the IS:199 Irish standard for Intruder Alarm systems. Paul was also instrumental in the formation of the EN50131-1 European standard and he served on the CENELEC committee for 36 years until 2016. Paul continues his role with ATA Security as Director and Chairman and our customers and staff continue to benefit from his wide ranging experience and industry knowledge.
